How to Set a Wallpaper on iPhone
On iPhone, a wallpaper is set from the Photos app. Download the image, open it, tap Share, then choose Use as Wallpaper and pick Lock Screen, Home Screen, or both.
1. Download a phone-sized image
On BestWallpapers.app, open a wallpaper and choose the iPhone download when it is offered. Portrait images fill a lock screen with less cropping than landscape art.
2. Save it to Photos
On iPhone, the download lands in Files or Photos depending on the browser. If it is in Files, tap the image and save it to Photos.
3. Open the image in Photos
Open Photos, find the image, and tap the Share button.
4. Choose Use as Wallpaper
Tap Use as Wallpaper. Pinch to position it, then tap Add. Choose Lock Screen, Home Screen, or both. iOS may also offer a depth effect on the Lock Screen if the subject is clear of the clock.
Questions
Do I need an app to set an iPhone wallpaper?
No. Current iOS sets still images from Photos with Share, then Use as Wallpaper. A third-party app is only needed for video live wallpapers.
Why does my iPhone crop the wallpaper?
The Lock Screen is a tall portrait canvas, and iOS also reserves space for the clock. A landscape download will crop. Use a portrait file close to your phone’s pixel size.
Can I set a different Lock Screen and Home Screen?
Yes. After you tap Add, iOS asks whether to apply the image to the Lock Screen, the Home Screen, or both.
