Wallpaper Resolution Guide
Wallpaper resolution is the pixel size of the file. Match it to the screen: portrait for phones, 1920×1080 for 1080p desktops, 3840×2160 for 4K, and 3440×1440 for a common ultrawide.
1. Read your screen size
On a phone, the settings page lists the display resolution. On Windows, open Settings, System, Display. On Mac, open System Settings, Displays.
2. Match the shape, not just the pixels
A 3840×2160 landscape file is sharp on a 4K monitor and heavily cropped on a phone. A 1290×2796 portrait file fills an iPhone and leaves bars on a monitor.
3. Download the closest device file
BestWallpapers.app offers device downloads when the artwork supports them. Pick iPhone, Android, Windows, Mac, or Ultrawide instead of always taking the original.
Questions
Is a bigger file always sharper?
Only up to the screen’s pixel count. A 4K file on a 1080p monitor is scaled down. Extra pixels do not add detail the screen cannot show.
What size is 4K?
4K UHD is 3840×2160 pixels, a 16:9 frame. Ultrawide monitors are a different shape, commonly 3440×1440.
